“You Might Find Yourself” Story Explorers preschool book club

Story Explorers looks a little different during Covid-19. We are meeting on zoom instead of in person. The library has curbside pick up, and we are open to the public currently so participants can pick up their copy of the book and supplies for a craft. We place all the supplies for the craft and the title we are reading in paper bags. This week I gave them a straw, some pompoms, and 2 party favor size containers of Playdoh.

We read You Might Find Yourself by Tai Snaith.

We made playdoh mazes like the inside cover of the book. Then we used our straws to blow the pompoms through. I then told the kids they could make a place they’d like to go to with their playdoh, but no one was really into that.

Sometimes you need to stand on your playdoh to get it really flat.

“Who am I?” Story Explorers preschool book club

Story Explorers looks a little different during Covid-19. We are meeting on zoom instead of in person. The library has curbside pick up, and we are open to the public currently so participants can pick up their copy of the book and supplies for a craft. We place all the supplies for the craft and the title we are reading in paper bags. This week I gave them a 12 inch hand made out of black construction paper, a piece of green construction paper for lily pads, a toy frog, and another randomly chosen color of construction paper.

We read Who am I? by Tim Flach.

We compared the size of our hands to the size of gorilla hands like this post from Preschool Steam.

I also bought plastic jumping frogs and had the kids cut out lily pads to try to jump their frogs onto.

“Sootypaws” Story Explorers preschool book club

Story Explorers looks a little different during Covid-19. We are meeting on zoom instead of in person. The library has curbside pick up, and we are open to the public currently so participants can pick up their copy of the book and supplies for a craft. We place all the supplies for the craft and the title we are reading in paper bags. This week I gave them 5 red pipe cleaners, a green pipe cleaner, and a toy mouse.

We read Sootypaws by Maggie Rudy.

Miss Andrea brought out Little Tabitha the hairless dumbo rat to join for the story.

We made apple carriages like this pumpkin post from Factory Direct Craft and placed our pet mice in them. The mice were cat toys

I then asked the kids to find wheels for their carriages.

Teacher Miss Michelle “People in Your Neighborhood” storytime

We are still meeting on zoom instead of in person, and so we decided to implement a new once a month event called the People in Your Neighborhood. We have asked interested community members to read a story and answer questions about their job. Afterward, we do a craft for which the library provides supplies. We place all the supplies for the craft in paper bags, and patrons can call ahead for the bag to be placed outside for curbside pickup. Our second guest speaker was Miss Michelle.

Miss Michelle is a preschool teacher at Grandview Elementary School in Windsor. We couldn’t take a lot of photos because she has kids with special rights in her classroom. She read Teachers Rock by Todd Parr.

Then we made apples for our teachers that we could practice threading through like this post from Preschool Inspirations
