“Monsters Don’t Eat Broccoli” Story Explorers preschool book club

We read Monsters Don’t Eat Broccoli by Barbara Jean Hicks.

We made disappearing monsters like this post from Toddler Approved.

We painted with broccoli like this post from this post from No Time for Flashcards.

Then we ate veggies!

Mmmm

Happy Halloween!

“The Neighborhood Sing Along” Story Explorers preschool book club

We read The Neighborhood Sing Along by Nina Crews.  Her books are some of my faves, because they showcase very traditional nursery rhymes and songs, with a modern, diverse cast of characters.

We made a baseball lacing activity like this one from Little Family Fun for “Take Me out to the Ball Game.”

We made “Do You Hear Your Ears Hang Low” doggie ears (or “How Much is that Doggie in the Window” ears. Or “Where, oh Where has my Little Dog Gone” ears) like this post from the Spruce Crafts.

They were a crowd pleaser and may have gotten a little out of hand.

I love that this kiddo insisted on one ear up and one ear down.

We made “Rain Rain Go Away” paintings like this post from A Little Pinch of Perfect.

“Square” Story Explorers preschool book club

We read Square by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen.

We made shapes with playdoh like this post from Pre-Kinders.

These girls made shapes with their lids instead.

We made shapes collages with out paper punches – always a crowd favorite!

We looked at reflections like this post from And Next Comes L.

This little girl was so proud of the mountains she made with the trapezoids and triangles.

“Costume Party!” little ones event

For this month, we made costumes out of paper bags, paper headbands, and paper plate masks. This event was for ages 2-5, and we held it on Tuesday and Saturday at the library.

I put a sign out on the table for inspiration, but I left no actual instructions. I wanted people to use their imaginations.

I bought a photo backdrop and made a photo booth.
