Spring and bunnies toddler

Opening Rhyme
(to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We’re all here today. We’re all here today.
Let’s clap our hands and sing together.
Hip, hip, hooray!
Source: (To be honest, my library was using this before I started so I’m not sure where the previous librarian found it, but it looks like a modified version of Jean Warren’s Preschool Express song here.)

Hello, Hands. Good-bye, Hands.
Hello, hands. (Wave hands in front of face.)
Good-bye, hands. (Hide hands behind back.)
Hello, hands. Good-bye, hands.
My hands were feeling shy today. (Keep hands hidden.)
But now they’re feeling better! (Bring hands out, wave frantically, and smile HUGE.)
Repeat with feet, face, etc.

Book- It’s Spring! by Samantha Berger

Rain on the Green Grass
Rain on the green grass,
Rain on the tree.
Rain on the housetop
But not on me!

Kites Up in the Sky
The Farmer in the Dell
The kites up in the sky,
Flying, oh, so, high.
They twirl around,
Then, fall down.
The kites up in the sky.

Color Kites
Tune: “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”
Red kites, blue kites flying by,
Yellow kites, green kites, in the sky.
They fly high and they fly low,
Twirling whirling ‘round they go
Red kites, blue kites flying by,
Yellow kites, green kites, in the sky

Book – Bunny and Me by Adele Aron Greenspun

Here is a Bunny
Here is a bunny with ears so funny
And here is his hole in the ground.
When a noise he hears,
He perks up his ears
And jumps in his hole in the ground

Five Little Bunnies
Hip Hop Hippity Hay
Five little bunnies went out to play.
Hippity-hop, hippity-hay
One little bunny hopped away.
Hippity-hop, hippity-hay
Four little bunnies went out to play….

Bubbles – best bubble machine ever! (IMHO, of course)

Rainbows in my Bubbles
(Tune of She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain)
I’ve got rainbows in my bubbles, yes, I do
I’ve got rainbows in my bubbles, yes, I do
When I look up towards the sun,
They’ve got rainbows every one.
I’ve got rainbows in my bubbles, yes, I do.

Good-bye Song
(Tune of Ten Little Indians)
Wave with one hand, then with the other
Wave with one hand, then with the other
Wave with one hand, then with the other
Wave with both feet now
Repeat with other body parts

Play Time!

Early literacy tip:   Easter can be early literacy – oriented too!  Have your child sort eggs by sizes or colors. For older children, draw treasure maps they must use to find their eggs or their baskets.
